Without Charge
Philosophy View of Charge
Demand an amount as a price for a service rendered or goods supplied.
Formally accuse someone of something, especially an offence under law.
Entrust someone with a task as a duty or responsibility.
Biblical view of Charge
Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
Romans 8:33 KJV
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
Psalm 91:11 KJV
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high-minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy.
1 Timothy 6:7 KJV
I often think to myself while sitting down to lunch during my time at work, how lunch is never free. It is said the best things in life are free. There has to be a catch. Many times when we hear the doorbell or the phone rings there is always a suspicion that we will find ourselves paying out somewhere because we assume there is someone trying to sell us something. God tells us there is no charge when it comes to salvation. Eternal life is completely free.
And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
Revelation 22:17 KJV
This doesn't mean that eternal life costs nothing, at least not monetary. Some people may say emphatically there has to be a catch, no! there is no catch. There is a price that had to be paid but it had nothing to do with finances, no human being had enough to pay for his or her salvation and no amount of changed behaviour, offerings. community service, prayer, meditation, bible reading, or churchgoing can pay the debt we each owe.
Jesus paid the price on the cross with his blood. It has been said, He paid a debt he did not owe, we owe a debt we could not pay. When we accept Jesus as our Saviour, God charges our sin to his account. Our debt is removed, and we become debt free. Jesus paid our debt in full, that is why he can offer us eternal life as a free gift meaning an item given without charge as an inducement to purchase or subscribe to something without charge. Isaiah made it clear that if anyone is thirsty come and drink even if we have no money, come, and take your drink.
Ho, everyone that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
Isiah 55:1 KJV
So stop trying to pay the debt yourself, just come let the thirsty ones come anyone who wants to, let them come and drink of the water of life without charge.
And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
Revelation 22:17 KJV
Come! it is such a simple word, but is the only one necessary. You can pray this simple prayer.
Lord, I'm coming, I'm coming to Christ. I am coming to say that I am sorry that you had to die to pay the price for sins you didn't commit but thank you Lord Jesus. I am coming, I am coming to say I am done with trying to buy influence with you.
I have run out of currency, I am bankrupt, nothing in my hands I bring simply to your cross I cling. Lord Jesus I have come here please forgive me, come into my heart enter into my life and give me eternal life. Thank you Jesus that you hear and answer prayers.
Amen.
