Have you ever looked around your world for someone you can depend on, and was disappointed? Has anyone ever let you down?, I know of someone who will never let you down, someone who will always be there for you, and that is our heavenly Father God. God reveals his nature through his names. One of such names is Elohim who we are introduced to in Genesis.

In the beginning where God created day and night, flowers, trees, fishes and animals, he is revealed to us by his name that he is the Creator of all. God is great enough to make myriad of universe and faithful enough to keep them all spinning in the correct place and at the right speed. How much more will he be there for us and do for us. We need not be afraid especially if we focus on God’s unfailing faithfulness to us. God is “made” of an unfailing strength; his very name tells us so.

It is used twenty-five hundred times in the Old Testament. The name Elohim reveals the mighty strength of God. El is the Hebrew word for “strength.” what is God saying to those who want to know what he is like? He is saying, “I am almighty, faithful and strong” Lamentation 3: 23 says great is His faithfulness. His mercies begin a fresh each day. God’s mercies are new everyday. We can depend on it!

They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness Lamentation 3:23KJV

The Bible is a book written by the inspiration of God himself, it speaks much about faith and how believers are able to make it to heaven. The bible does tell us who makes the heavens and who knows how to hold them together by his mighty power and his command.

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: Hebrews 1:3 KJV

So, what does the name Elohim mean to me? it gives me confidence, It tells me that if God created the world, he is able to control my world much better than I’ve been able to managed. I am glad I have someone I can depend on because God is perfect faithfulness, renewing his pledge to me morning by morning, I can go to sleep in peace night after night knowing that:

Elohim can be known.

Elohim can be trusted.

Elohim is there.
