Jesus is the Vine and He Wants Us to Bear Good Fruit

What is a vine?

Vine is a plant that typically grows with support on other structure.

Jesus is the vine who gets his nourishment from the Father (Husbandman) and we as Christians are the branches who depends on the vine (Jesus) for our growth and strength.

The branch is not able to flourish without connection to the vine which abides in the root to pump nourishment into the branches so they can bear fruit.

Meaning of bearing fruits is to be successful especially after work or effort:

Christ exists, and in existing, has the qualities of his Father. He is the vine from which all power flows for the life of his people, the branches.

John 15:5 echoes that the Lord wants to do marvellous things in our lives if we abide in Him, because without Him we can’t bear good fruits

Jesus describes here the essence of a fruitful Christian life. By faith, we must stay connected to Christ every second of every day to live the most God-honouring and abundant life of peace and fruitfulness in Christ. After explaining to his disciples how his Father is the gardener that prunes each branch so that it can bear more fruit, Jesus urges them to stay grafted in. The image is powerful, but how does one stay connect this way? God intends us to be mindful of him and to pray without ceasing. He instructs us to be filled continually with his Spirit so that we can walk by his Spirit.

According to 2nd Thessaloians1:11-12 Paul said that he counts us worthy of the calling, fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power. So that Gods name can be glorified. The lives that are going to be transformed is not for us to get the glory but it’s For God to get the glory.

We should ask the Lord to help us to have the attitude, words, and wisdom to bear good fruits, if you plant a seed in the ground and we don’t water or fertilised the seed, it is not going to bear fruit,

And what you will get from the seed that not nourished is bad fruit which can be found in Galatians 5:13-21

I would like to ask the question; what kind of fruits are we bearing?

Galatian 5:22-23 gives us the 9 fruit of the Spirit that God is expecting us to bear. In order for us as believers to bear fruits we must abide in Jesus.

Without vital connection to the vine, we will not be able to bear much fruits., there is no other option.

No one can produce genuine fruit without dependence on Christ.

We must come to the recognition that we are not sufficient in ourselves.

Finally, as we continue to abide in the vine let our actions always reflect the fruit of the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

John 15: 1- 8 KJV

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
If a man abides not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so, shall ye be my disciples.

Read and be blessed
