Fruits of the Spirit

Updated: Sep 11, 2021

I’m sure as believers and even some non-believers have at some point in our lives heard or read about the fruit of the Spirit and wondered what it is and how it relates to being a Christian.

The phrase “fruit of the spirit” can be found in Galatians 5:22-23. The apostle Paul has listed nine specific behaviours that we as believers should practice in our daily walk with God, this is the result of the work of the Holy Spirit in a christian’s life.

The Greek word καρπός that is translate “fruit” usually means fruit in the sense of edible fruits and vegetables, but it can also be translated as offspring, deed, action, result, or profit. In today’s society, the term fruit is used in reference to a good thing; it can be the result of hard work and careful tending. In our modern days we may use the word “fruit” in a phrase such as the “fruit of our labor” to communicate the results of our effort.

The Understanding of “fruit” in Galatians 5 can mean “deed, action, or result” This will help us to understand and make this verse more personal. The result or the work of the Spirit in a believer’s life is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, goodness, gentleness, faith, meekness and temperance.

How can this manifestation take place?

We have to live a Godly life bearing the fruits of the Holy Spirit to see that manifestation in our lives.

Our lives should be abundantly fruitful, when we have the Holy Spirit living within us. We are a temple in whom God lives.

I encouraged each and every one that whatever we do let our actions always reflect the fruits of the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.
