Finding the Will of God

Philosophical view of will

Will is important as one of the parts of the mind along with reason  understanding. It is considered central to the field of ethics because of its role in enabling deliberate action.

Biblical view of God’s will

The Omnipotence of a divine being. Omnipotence – the state of being Omnipotent; having unlimited power.

When the bible or scriptures says “God’s will for us” we need not doubt that what is being said is indeed God’s will for us!

According to 1 Thessalonians 5:18 Paul emphasised that “No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you in Jesus Christ “

Are you in the habit of saying thank you no matter what? The New Living Translation says give thanks in all circumstances;( NLV 1 Thes 5:18) Notice the verse does not tell us that it is good for us to give thanks for all circumstances but in ALL circumstances.

The Apostle Paul was being encouraging when he wrote the letter to the Thessalonians who were experiencing difficulties in some very tough times, he told them to give thanks. It is the same directive for us as believers today. When trouble comes it is the will of God that we have an attitude of gratitude, “not a brat-itude attitude.” In the middle of a night- mare, we can give thanks that “weeping may be for that night, but joy comes in the morning.”

For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Psalm 30:5KJV

In the pain of bereavement, we can thank God for the comfort of his “rod” and “staff” in our “dark valley of death”.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4KJV

When others rejects us for our beliefs, we can thank God that he accepts us fully and unreservedly, we can also be thankful for others who believe as we do. In all things there should be something for which we can praise and thank him for. When we think we have nothing specific to praise him for, thank him that in his sovereign will, he has allowed us to make it thru life this far , we should always praise him for who he is.

Ways we can praise God

We can praise God who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we belong to Christ.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: Ephesians 1:3KJV

We can praise God for friends who helps us when we are in trouble.

We can praise God for who we can become when we go through trouble and pain. Pain enables growth in our lives.

We can rejoice and praise God also when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they can help us, they can teach us to endure. Endurance develops strength of character in us, and Character strengthens our confident expectation of salvation.

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

And patience, experience; and experience, hope: Romans 5:3-4 KJV.

My final words for you today is let us give God thanks no matter what happens in our lives, he is deserving.

Amen!
