Attribute – Omniscient
Description – God is all- seeing God is all- knowing According to A.W Tozer he wrote that he never discovers anything, he is never surprised, never amazed. He never wonders about anything nor (except when drawing men out for their own good) does he seek information or ask questions.
To be Omniscient is to know everything, it does not matter how educated, informed or wise we might think we are, we are not Omniscient. The Scriptures teaches us that God alone is Omniscient, when correctly understood, it should have life altering ramifications with our walk with God. Omniscience is summed up briefly in 1 John 3:20 KJV which reads
If our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
There are certainly many parts of God’s divine nature that will remain a mystery to us. We think we understand Omniscience. We think it means God knows everything and He does but He knows all things in a very different way than we do. God’s knowledge isn’t just broader than ours it is positively different. God doesn’t learn, gain information or change His mind by receiving new facts. God knows!
God’s Omniscience is a great security for the children of God, it means that even when we face insecurities, confusion and frustration God knows all about it. God knows much more about our trials and circumstances than we do. Scripture records that we do not even know enough about our lives to pray as we should but God does. He does not need our prayers to inform Him of anything because He already knows. How powerful is that! We have no way of knowing what the future holds but God does and because He always knows what’s best for us we can face it with confidence.
Conclusion God’s Omniscience is frightening but should be more so to the person who does not know Christ because He is all – knowing, in the sense that He is aware of the past, present and future, nothing takes Him by surprise. “And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and said unto me, speak; Thus saith the LORD; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.” Ezek 11: 5 KJV The Bible echoes that God’s knowledge is so perfect that He even knows the thoughts that enter our minds
